Tucson  Gateway  design  competition

Jonathan led this design competition entry for a signature project and Gateway for the Downtown District in the City of Tucson. The concept incorporates a monumental entry gesture at the North and South with massive wall elements that evoke Tucson’s vernacular textures along with the proposal of focal feature call the Spiral of Light. The focal feature is a nod to Tucson’s future with its flourishing science and research community in Optics, Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering. Connectivity is achieved through pedestrian and bicycle pathways and three signature Parks/Greenways span the Interstate 10 corridor, connecting and unifying the existing downtown with the proposed Rio Nuevo site
